In October 2006 a new Multi-Purpose Health Service (MPS) opened in Guyra. Located in Sole Street, the MPS allows the Guyra community to have access to a high quality facility combining services such as acute care, aged care, physiotherapy and accident and emergency.

Transport for health-related purposes is available, and the MPS hosts visiting professionals such as occupational health, physiotherapy, etc.

Doctors
Yes, we currently have two GPs at the Medical Centre in Bradley Street (one part-time), and a doctor specialising in women’s health visits the Neighbourhood Centre in Ollera Street once a week.

One of our GPs will be ceasing to practice in Guyra at the end of June to take up a position in an Armidale medical/surgical practice.

Hunter New England Health have expressions of interest from a number of doctors interested in moving to Guyra and the plan is to employ two full-time doctors.

Aged Care
Kolora Hostel caters for low-residential care and some independent units. There are 16 places for high-residential care at the MPS.

Complementary Therapies
Guyra is well catered for in this regard. Massage, reflexology, aromatherapy, iridology, psychotherapy and nutritional advice are all available within the town.

Physiotherapy
We now have two physiotherapists. Karen Wildman is in private practice in Bradley Street and can be contacted on 0488 432 563 or 0488 HEAL ME.
There is also a visiting physiotherpatist at the hospital.
